The Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology (ANNT) is a non-governmental organisation made up of young scientists in the natural sciences, mathematics and engineering. Our members live and work in Bosnia and Herzegovina, while some of them work at prestigious institutions around the world, but all of them are tied to our homeland and share a common vision of improving the state of science there.
We are dedicated to connecting young and successful scientists and professionals in the natural sciences, mathematics and engineering, with the aim of improving the conditions and infrastructure for scientific and professional work in BiH.
Our vision
Looking to the future, we see Bosnia and Herzegovina as a respected and accessible country for working in science and technology, and the Association as a driving force for the advancement of science and technology for the benefit of all citizens of BiH.
Without investing in the youngest generations and their high-quality education, the chances of long-term prosperity are limited. We therefore strive to improve education in BiH by organising summer schools and camps, creating additional learning materials, popularising science among young people and promoting high-quality teaching methods.
We believe it is finally time for Bosnia and Herzegovina to join the ranks of developed countries, and this is not possible without a developed scientific climate and research institutes. A large number of internationally successful Bosnian-Herzegovinian scientists are ready to contribute to this shared mission. Still, we need a little help from the BH public and those in positions of responsibility.
The application of science and advanced technologies in industry can bring about a revival of our economy. Since we live in the digital age, we do not face the obstacles of previous generations, and a great deal of work can be done online or using computers, without capital investment or extensive infrastructure.
Almost all of our members began their education in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and most of them continued their scientific and professional training at leading universities around the world. Our members have so far achieved great success in the natural sciences, mathematics and engineering, and are currently based at prestigious institutions such as CERN (Geneva), UCL (London) and ETH Zürich (Zurich), or at companies such as Google DeepMind (London) that are at the forefront of research. Aware of the situation both in our country and beyond, we strive to use our experience and knowledge to contribute to positive processes and to the advancement of science and technology in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the benefit of all its citizens.
