Bosnian-Herzegovinian scientist Adnan Mehonić has been appointed Full Professor of Nanoelectronics and Electronic Materials at University College London (UCL), one of the world's leading universities.

This recognition came at the age of 39 and represents a major acknowledgement of his research, innovation and international contribution.

Mehonić's research focuses on the development of energy-efficient nanoelectronics and functional materials, in particular memristive devices that combine memory and computation. These technologies have potential applications in the development of new generations of computing systems inspired by the way the human brain works.

In addition to his academic work, Mehonić is co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of IntrinSic Semiconductor Technology, a spin-off company created at UCL.

His work has been recognised before. In 2021, he was included in MIT Technology Review's prestigious “35 Innovators Under 35” list, among young innovators whose work has the potential to significantly influence the future of technology.

Mehonić graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Sarajevo and continued his education at UCL, where he obtained his master's degree and PhD. He is the author of more than 100 scientific papers and holds several patents in memristor technology. He is currently a member of the Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology and has also served as its President.

His success is yet another example of how much Bosnian-Herzegovinian scientists can contribute to the development of modern science and technology at a global level. At the same time, his work to date shows how important it is to connect the Bosnian-Herzegovinian scientific community with international institutions and to create opportunities for collaboration.

Congratulations to Prof. Dr Adnan Mehonić on this exceptional achievement!
