Dear secondary school students,
Are you tired of online lectures? Would you like to meet your peers from all over BiH and learn with them through hands-on experiments that you carry out together, each from the safety of your own home? Would you like to hang out at a live STEM camp and meet in person some of the most successful young Bosnian-Herzegovinian engineers and scientists in STEM fields? Then apply for the ANNT Virtual Overture to the Third STEM Youth Camp here! Applications are open until 06.05.2021 at 23:59. Participation is completely free of charge!
The ANNT team of Bosnian-Herzegovinian engineers and scientists with international experience is preparing interesting natural science experiments for you, which you will carry out at home using your mobile phone and objects from your household. The experiments will be presented online on 8 May 2021 at 12:00, marking the start of the challenge. You will have 4 weeks to carry out the experiments, and the 4 best/most creative participants will be rewarded with a guaranteed place at the STEM Youth Camp, which will be held in person as soon as the epidemiological situation allows (hopefully next summer). Apply now!
The Virtual Overture to the Third STEM Youth Camp programme is intended for secondary school students who want to get to know the methodology of scientific work through hands-on natural science experiments (physics, biology, microbiology and biochemistry). Just as real scientists and researchers discover new knowledge by starting from a hypothesis, then collecting and analysing data to reach valid conclusions, participants in this programme will have the opportunity to learn about nature first-hand through personal experience and the scientific research process. Each participant will be given access to a new website developed by the ANNT team, through which they will learn by doing experiments.
Given that science is global and that scientists collaborate with colleagues from all over the world in their work, this programme will also require collaboration among participants. Groups of two participants will have the opportunity to collaborate on experiments and to contribute to the programme as a whole. An example of the strength of our collaboration is the possibility of measuring the radius of planet Earth with the help of a ruler! How? Apply and find out!
Meet your mentors and see what awaits you here.
You can read summaries of previous camps and participants' impressions at: SYC 2018 and SYC 2019.
