The fourth Student Research Project – PSI 2024, organised by the Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology, has been successfully completed.

The Student Research Project aims to enable undergraduate and graduate students to carry out high-quality research in STEM fields under the mentorship of Bosnian-Herzegovinian experts who are building their research careers at prestigious universities, research centres and companies.

This year, students and mentors carried out six-month research projects in the fields of astrophysics, elementary particle physics, soft matter physics, bioinformatics, automatic control, machine learning, artificial intelligence and forestry.

The students presented their final research results at the online Closing Ceremony held on 14.12. and 15.12.2024. In discussion with the mentors and the ANNT members present, they successfully answered the questions posed and exchanged ideas that could be implemented in future projects.

During the Student Research Project – PSI 2024, the students took part in poster sessions and presentations, thereby demonstrating continuous progress in their project work. In addition to working with their mentors and acquiring specific knowledge in the STEM fields mentioned, the students had the opportunity to learn more about research methodology and the elements of a successful scientific career at lectures given by Dr Zlatan Ajanović (RWTH Aachen University) and Hamza Merzić (Google DeepMind).

Our warmest congratulations go to this year's students - Amar Mujkić, Amer Mušinbegović, Anđela Dakić, Anida Nezović, Damir Agačević, Hanka Goralija, Lamija Borovina, Lamija Korać, Lara Pačak, Magdalena Primorac, Murat Kolić, Naida Purišević, Nedim Džajić, Nudžejma Selimović and Tatjana Novaković - who worked hard on their projects and showed exceptional potential for research. We also thank and congratulate the mentors, Prof. Dr Admir Greljo (University of Basel), Dr Aida Branković (CSIRO), Dr Amel Duraković (Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences), Dr Deniz Mostarac (Sapienza University of Rome), Prof. Dr Ibrahim Numanagić (University of Victoria), Dr Rialda Spahić (Equinor), Selma Vejzagić (International Burch University) and Dr Zlatan Ajanović (RWTH Aachen University), who passed on valuable knowledge to the students.
