Event: Challenge Based Innovation: Applications of Accelerators in Sarajevo
From 22 September to 1 October, the Faculty of Science at the University of Sarajevo will host a ten-day international student challenge based on the Challenge Based Innovation (CBI) concept.
This intensive programme brings together students to develop innovative ideas for the application of accelerator technologies in areas of broad societal benefit – from materials science to medicine.
A special focus of this challenge is to develop innovative and concrete proposals for the application of accelerator technology in Sarajevo, identifying solutions that can have a real and long-term societal impact.
How is the programme structured?
Participants will be divided into four international teams of six students each. Over ten days of collaborative work, they will develop solutions and present their ideas to an international jury at the end of the programme.
The programme includes:
🔹 online expert lectures (starting from 1 September),
🔹 introductory lectures in person on 22 September in Sarajevo,
🔹 ten days of intensive teamwork with dedicated mentorship support.
International experts and mentors
Students will have the opportunity to learn from leading experts in accelerator technologies, including:
🔹 Maurizio Vretenar (CERN)
🔹 Fanouria Antoniou (CERN)
🔹 Nicolas Delerue (CNRS)
🔹 Sandro Rossi (CNAO)
Some of the experts will be present in Sarajevo for the entire ten days, providing continuous guidance to the teams.
Who can apply?
